Coastal Chateau Renovation

What began as a weathered Folly Beach cottage was thoughtfully restored into one of the island’s most memorable oceanfront homes. With Mitchell Studio guiding the architectural restoration, the four-month renovation balanced the home’s original coastal character with modern livability, lasting performance, and refined craftsmanship.

Additional windows opened the interiors more fully to the beachfront setting, capturing ocean views and bringing natural light throughout the home. A standing seam metal roof added long-term durability and a polished coastal presence, while B-board ceilings, shiplap accents, and refreshed bathrooms preserved the relaxed character of the original cottage.

Outside, new decking strengthened the connection between the home and the ocean, creating a natural place for gathering, relaxing, and taking in the rhythm of Folly Beach. The result is a distinctive coastal retreat that honors its history while giving the home new life for the years ahead.
